The stream fishing area at Kutsuki Kogawa Stream Center features a beautifully designed artificial stream that draws fresh mountain water directly from the nearby Toyani River. Fish are regularly stocked from our on-site aquaculture ponds, offering visitors an enjoyable and immersive fishing experience surrounded by nature.
This unique facility was thoughtfully designed, landscaped, and nurtured over a period of more than 40 years by Mr. Akio Ide, providing guests with an extraordinary escape from everyday life in a natural setting.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to:
The residents of the Kogawa district of Kutsuki, for kindly granting permission to draw water from the vital agricultural supply channel
Mr. Akio Ide, for generously sharing his expertise in aquaculture and stream fishing operations
And President Yamaoka of Matsuya Co., Ltd., for his invaluable support in the reopening of this facility
To all our guests, we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in helping preserve this beautiful environment by:
Keeping the water clean
Not disposing of trash on village roads or at residential garbage stations
Driving safely and respectfully through the local area
This is a mountain stream fishing area surrounded by nature. To protect yourself from insect bites and the risk of falls, we recommend wearing long pants, a hat, socks, and sturdy shoes. Bringing a towel and insect repellent spray is also advisable for your comfort and safety.
At the Kutsuki Kogawa Stream Center, we operate an aquaculture facility with 15 fish-rearing tanks. If we can secure a sufficient supply of cold, clean mountain water, we plan to expand our cultivation to include Iwana (char), Yamame (landlocked salmon) and Amago.
For visitors using the stream fishing area, we provide rental rods and our original tackle sets, specially prepared for your enjoyment.
Our rental rods are Hoteichiku bamboo poles, handcrafted from bamboo harvested in Kagoshima Prefecture. The bamboo is carefully heat-treated and degreased, resulting in strong, flexible rods ideal for catching larger fish. These high-quality rods are crafted by Kinoshita Fishing Gear in Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
You may choose from three lengths:
12 shaku (3.6 meters)
10 shaku (3.0 meters)
9 shaku (2.7 meters)
Please return your rod to the designated stand after use.
Only bait fishing is allowed in the stream fishing area.
Please do not use lure rods, reel rods, fly rods, or tenkara rods.
We offer our own original tackle sets, specially made by Tiger Hooks, a renowned hook manufacturer in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Our original hooks are barbless, meaning they are gentle on the fish and easy to remove if accidentally hooked on clothing. While barbless hooks may make it easier for fish to escape, we encourage you to embrace the challenge and enjoy the thrill of the catch—even when a fish gets away.
You may bring your own bait such as salmon roe (ikura) or grubs (budomushi).
Note: Flavored or old salmon roe tends to be ineffective.
If needed, we also sell:
Ikura and grubs for ¥500
Simple cooler boxes with string handles
Ice packs for keeping your catch fresh
小さな釣り堀
Kids' Fishing Pond
We have small fishing ponds where even young children can easily enjoy their first fishing experience.
These ponds are located upstream of the main stream fishing area and next to the reception and shop at the far end of the property.
Parents and guardians can relax on nearby benches while keeping a close watch on their children in a safe and comfortable setting.
At the reception and shop, we offer refreshing chilled beverages—feel free to stop by and enjoy a drink during your visit.
